In the heart of Baltimore, Clark Hospitality and the Outkrowd Group set the bar high with the opening of Prim and Proper Restaurant Cocktail and Wine Bar. From a six course French American dining experience to cocktails mixed with hip hop history throughout the entire building VIPs were able to energize the new establishment with energy.
Owners Clark Hospitality (Co-owner of Papi Cuisine) and the Outkrowd Group (Co-owner of Blk Swan), built this establishment as a fusion of sophistication, charm, and visual artistry. From the meticulously curated wine selection by Jannell Clark to the culinary masterpieces crafted by Chef Calvin Riley, Prim and Proper Restaurant provided an experience that was both prim and proper. This two story downtown establishment serves not only upscale surroundings, but French-American cuisine that cures the curiosity of the palette.
The Fashion and Art of Baltimore
It was magical to see owners of Baltimore’s two largest social and culinary powerhouses, Papi Cuisine and BLK Swan partner together in velvet yellow jackets and present the Prim and Proper restaurant and the thoughts behind the design. Down to the jackets, the design was thought out. The yellow jackets represented ‘energy’, ‘joy’, and friendship. Words that seem so basic but so important to the growth of Baltimore and the business community. I know it’s likely hard for you to imagine these bomb jackets tailored by Baltimore’s own, Different Regard, but see below.
Along with fashion at the fingertips, and custom art work by Kid Balloon, Prim and Proper an artful touch that offers a unique and exceptional dining experience. To add–Jannell Clark, one of the only black woman Sommeliers in the State of Maryland, curates an exquisite selection of wines, enhancing the overall dining and networking experience.
Prim and Proper Restaurant: Culinary and Social Brilliance
Executive Chef Calvin Riley infuses each dish with a French-Caribbean twist, elevating the menu to new heights. The atmosphere at Prim and Proper Restaurant, blending modern aesthetics with classic charm, and servers with yellow jackets and bowties set the stage for an evening of gastronomic delights coming from a French-style kitchen.
Opening Night: Baltimore’s Unveiling of a New Atmosphere and Art
With Chris Simon and Berry Clark bringing in the best of the best for opening night, Prim and Proper, masterpiece, you could sense the mechanics of collaboration throughout the entire establishment on opening night this week. Each room greeted you with unique artwork by Baltimore’s own, Kid Balloon. Mesmerizing artworks by Kid Balloon, strategically placed throughout the restaurant and wine bar, add an extra layer of visual appeal. Kid Balloon’s creations carry the message “Celebrate Yourself, Celebrate Life,” reinforcing that dining at Prim and Proper is a celebration of life and self-appreciation.
Prim and Proper: Beyond Culinary Excellence
Dining at Prim and Proper restaurant is an immersive experience that extended beyond the plate. The ambiance, service excellence, and the curated wine selection created an atmosphere that beckoned patrons to savor every moment. The building not only included a dining experience but an event space with live hip hop music to remind VIP of 1990s and 2000s hip hop that inspired the classical yet cultural touch to the venue. To amplify the brand colors and theme of the night Phemstar Event Production and B Luxe Events designed the event space with beautiful stages, suede couches, and french models dancing with lampshades and pearls.
This event is one of many that I was glad to have captured to start the new year. To be in a room full of VIPs was impactful on so many levels to include the faces of Dawn Moore, Maryland’s first lady, Brandon Scott, the mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Black, the former mayor of Baltimore, Wendy Osefo of the Real Housewives of Potomac.
